Staffline are currently recruiting for an experience SHEQ Officer to join their well established team in the Maghera area

On the back of an ever-increasing workload, our client are looking for an experienced SHEQ Officer to support the team and meet the requirements of the Safety Quality and Environment Management systems.

This role will also involve assisting supervisors and managers by recognising hazards and seeking to minimise risks, ensuring high standards of SHEQ are attained and continually improved and to ensure all SHEQ legal obligations are met.

The SHEQ Officer will be an integral part of the team. This role requires the individual to be able to multi-task and prioritise workload. Previous experience is necessary. This role will be based in our Head Office in Maghera, the successful candidate will be required to carry out site visits across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will play an active role in the continuous development of the Company's management systems.

This position is suitable for those with a genuine passion for the Environment, Health and Safety and Quality and has the drive to help continually improve our SHEQ culture and progress within the company.


* Ensure the company remains compliant with new and existing H&S legislation

* Ensuring health and safety, environmental and quality standards are met on-site

* Carry out workplace inspections across Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland

* Assist with the effective operation and maintenance of the ISO standards and accreditations

* Contribute to the development of operating procedures and other aspects of the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Management Systems

* Help implement new SHEQ strategies and procedures

* Collate and analyse H&S and environmental data and produce reports as required

* Develop risk assessments and method statements and develop risk reduction programmes

* Investigate and reporting on incidents, accidents, dangerous occurrences, and near misses

* Help reduce the number of H&S incidents to zero accidents

* Assist with the co-ordination and management of audit programmes

* Ensuring staff understand safety procedures

* Suggesting improvements to working processes

* Delivery of environmental improvements and targets to develop a sustainability strategy

* Assist with the completion tender pre-qualification questionnaires and contribute to quality submissions

* Prepare and distribute regular health and safety alerts as required

* Advise on training requirements

* Undertake any other reasonable duties and tasks as deemed appropriate from time to time

Knowledge and Experience:

* 2 years relevant experience in similar role.

* Understanding of UK and ROI Health & Safety and Environmental legislation and code of practices.

* Experience of ISO 45001, 14001, 9001, 27001 management systems.

* The ability to work to deadlines and a high degree of computer literacy.

* Self-motivated and able to use own initiative, inquisitive and be able to learn quickly and grasp new systems

* Positive and enthusiastic approach

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skill


· NEBOSH Certificate as minimum, preferably 3rd level EHS qualification

· University Degree (preferable)

· Driving Licence
