Staffline Recruitment are welcoming applications on behalf of the Limerick Clare Education and Training Board for an Architect and Senior Architect to join a project team working nationwide. The successful candidate will play a key role in the Project Delivery Unit. This is a fantastic opportunity which offers a competitive salary and a hybrid working model.
Duties of the role
- Assist colleagues in conjunction with other professional disciplines in appraisal of energy retrofit projects with development of Brief Formulation Report as design brief, with schedules of accommodation, for new and extension school projects. Prepare feasibility studies, reports, preliminary design concepts and presentation drawings to inform process.
- Review proposed architectural documentation. Undertake analysis on technical aspects of energy efficient and decarbonisation technologies, frameworks or standards and assist in development of strategies to increase delivery.
- Assist in managing the design development of projects by external consultant teams, through the Department's design team review process. To ensure designs are fit for purpose and in accordance with the Department's brief, Design and Technical Guidance documents, and Design Team Procedures, to expedite the delivery of the school Capital Programme.
- Assist in the development of mechanisms for evaluating and prioritising projects.
- Assist in formulating and adapting policy to ensure compliance with relevant Government and EU Directives, Building Regulations/Standards and Codes of Practice and public procurement requirements.
- Review Statutory Submissions including Planning Permission, Fire Safety Certificate and Disability Access Certificate etc.
- Review Tender Documents and input into Procurement Process.
- Oversee construction contracts site inspections, final account, managing client handover and the defects period.
- Promote excellence in educational facility design and research through example.
- To assist in developing and standardising best office management standards, tools, templates and procedures including ICT protocols.
- Such other duties appropriate to the Architect grade as may be determined from time to time by the line Senior Architect and or Technical Manager.
- The Senior Architect will be required to manage and develop staff if assigned. They must have strong leadership and managerial qualities allied to excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Eligibility/Essential Requirements for the Post
- Hold a recognised level 8-degree RIAI accredited qualification in Architecture or an equivalent qualification
- Architect must have a minimum of three years post-graduate architectural working experience in the design of building projects
- Senior Architect must have a minimum of at least three years overseeing and project managing building projects as part of a multi-disciplinary approach
- Be currently registered on the Register of Architects as set out in Section 14 of the Building Control Act, 2007.
- The successful candidate must retain registration and comply with any conditions in relation to continued professional development as set by the R.I.A.I.
- Strong technical and design skills (Candidates called for interview will be required to present a portfolio demonstrating these skills)

- An understanding of current and developing issues affecting the construction process
- Knowledge of current legislative requirement and familiarity with recent legislative changes affecting building design and construction.
- An awareness of trends and developments in architecture
- A full driving licence and/or have ready access to a car.
- Candidates will be required to present a strong portfolio of projects to demonstrate technical and design skills if invited to interview.
Desirable
- Have experience / knowledge of acting as the role of Employer's representative under the public works form of contract (GCCC)
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in the construction industry when delivering a construction project to a required BIM level.
- Demonstrate Proficiency and/or knowledge of Revit (or similar software) for delivering a construction project to BIM (level 1 minimum.)
- Have knowledge and experience with the use of ISO Quality Management Standards such as ISO 9001 or equivalent as part of working in a professional office environment or similar recognised project management standards.
- Have experience / knowledge of acting as the role of Employer's representative under the public works form of contract (GCCC)
- Have knowledge and/or experience relating to acting as role of the Assigned Certifier/Ancillary Assigned Certifier under the Building Control (Amendment) Regulations 2014 on building construction projects.
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience relating to architectural l design solutions to existing buildings as part of a construction project.
