Job description

Our client, a leading manufacturing company, has a vacancy for an Assistant Production Manager at their site in Co Fermanagh.

The Role:

As the Assistant Production Manager will be required to carry out a variety of duties including

  • Ensure a safe working environment for all production and maintenance personnel under your supervision.
  • Ensure that Health & Safety regulations are fully complied with by all production and maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure that standard operating procedures are completed and kept up to date. Staff should be fully trained in each task.
  • Ensure the manufactured finished product is of the highest quality and meets the required standards.
  • Ensure daily quality checks are completed by approved and qualified personnel.
  • Ensure the efficient running of the production line so that production plans & targets are met within the agreed timescales.
  • Ensure accurate daily recording of downtime sheets and production records.
  • Communicate effectively with maintenance and production personnel so that all tasks are completed within agreed time scales.
  • Ensure Housekeeping is maintained to the highest standard throughout the factories.
  • Ensure that all General Operatives are aware of their duties and oversee that these are completed and making sure that a high level of moral is maintained among the staff.
  • Ensure staff are fully trained to meet requirements of the job. Training needs/requests should be reported to Operations Manager immediately.
  • Ensure the accurate recording and inputting of daily production figures.
  • Ensure daily wastage figures are kept within target
  • Ensure that the finished product is correctly identified
  • Control of batch mixes, i.e. cement and aggregate quantity in each batch to ensure that whilst quality standards are met the material production costs are kept in line with budget figures.
  • Ensure that all tasks are completed in accordance with the Environmental regulations.
  • Report to the Operations Manager on all aspects of production and maintenance.
  • Any other duties as deemed relevant by management.

Hours of work:

  • Mon - Thurs 8am - 5.30pm, Fri 8am - 5pm
  • 42hrs per week


The successful Assistant Production Manager, will possess the following

  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing or construction environment is essential
  • Expertise in Operational/Production management procedures and continuous improvement practices
  • Strong knowledge of operational/production KPI's
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work on their own initiative
