Auto Electrician
Rate of Pay: £13.18
Location: Duncrue
Hours: 37 hours per week
Duration: Temporary ongoing
JOB SUMMARY / MAIN PURPOSE:
To be responsible to the Fleet Team Leader and other appropriate officers for the undertaking of the appropriate electrical preparation and repair of the client's fleet of vehicles and mobile plant as directed, either individually or as part of a team.
KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- To carry out as directed the full range of work normally associated with this trade in relation to the electrical servicing, preparation, maintenance and repair of all Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV), Light Goods Vehicle (LGV) and miscellaneous vehicles, attachments and items of mobile plant.
- To prepare the electrical systems of fleet items for annual testing and to observe, recognise and report promptly on any vehicle or component defects and, or symptoms of impending failure.
- To dismantle and reassemble all fleet items as necessary for the purposes of fault-finding, repair or replacement of electrical components.
- To liaise with and provide appropriate information to stores personnel in relation to the establishment and maintenance of a suitable range of electrical spares for use in the above.
- To provide as required to all relevant personnel job-costing and time-recording information using the documentation provided.
- To drive all client vehicles as required, and to collect parts and spares as directed.
- To interpret, implement and have due regard to electrical servicing/repair instructions and manufacturers specifications.
- To carry out as directed diagnostic testing on the electrical systems of all vehicles and items of mobile plant, using all plant, machinery and equipment supplied.
- To participate in a 'triage' system of fault diagnosis, evaluation and repair where required to do so.
- To participate as directed in all quality assurance procedures and initiatives, including the completion and submission of appropriate documentation.
- To undertake such training as may be identified for the maintenance of essential craft skills.
- To participate as directed in the client's selection interview procedure.
- To act in accordance with the client and departmental policies and procedures including customer care; equal opportunities; health and safety; safeguarding and any pertinent legislation.
- To participate in all induction and in-service training provided by the client and in the induction and support of all newly appointed staff and other human resource management procedures as appropriate.
- To undertake the duties in such a way as to enhance and protect the reputation and public profile of the client.
- To undertake such other relevant duties as may, from time to time, be required.
Essential criteria
Applicants must:
- have a City and Guilds Level III Diploma in Maintenance and Repair - Auto-Electrical or an equivalent relevant qualification;
- possess a full, current driving licence which enables them to drive in Northern Ireland, or, access to an alternative form of transport which enables them to meet the requirements of the post in full[1]; and
- be able to demonstrate on the application form, by providing personal and specific examples, at least one year's relevant experience of carrying out electrical servicing, preparation, maintenance and repair of:
- HGV and LGV vehicles; and
- miscellaneous vehicles, attachments and items of mobile plant.
