Role: Band 3 Charge Nurse Support Officer
Rate of Pay: £10.40 per hour
Location: Antrim
Hours: 37.5
Duration: Temporary
Main duties/Responsibilities:
- Order and maintain ward stock and supplies (including CSSU, Laboratory, stock and non-stock requisitions)
- Collating off duties and other administrative paperwork as requested by ward sister/charge nurse.
- Use Patient Centre and other appropriate IT systems.
- Management of ward sister's diary, including a brought forward system for staff appraisals, clinical supervision, audit and training records.
- Maintain accurate up to date records for staff including annual leave, absence and training.
- Sort and respond to mail as appropriate.
- Assist the ward team to deliver effective care, for example printing off patient lists for, ward rounds, social services, phlebotomists, AHPs, etc
- Dealing with requests and general request for information and enquiries.
- Arrange meetings and make appointments for ward manager.
- Service all meetings including the preparation and issue of agenda, papers and produce minutes.
- Dealing with phone calls.
- Photocopying and faxing and filing.
- Sorting and processing information.
- Word processing and use of Microsoft Office suite.
- Maintain high standards of confidentiality in respect of all matters.
- Ordering patient transport as requested.
- Supporting the ward sister/change nurse in general administrative such as photocopying and issuing correspondence.
- Maintain notice boards and health information racks.
- Responsible for secure maintain of ward administrative records
- Assist in maintaining a safe environment (including reporting broken/faulty equipment to Works & Maintenance and Sister/Charge nurse.
- To help maintain a safe environment in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Order (N.I. 1979).
- To report accidents/incidents immediately to the Nurse in Charge, and provide information as required in the investigation of same, both verbally and in writing as required.
- Co-operate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure open lines of communication.
- Proficient in the patient administration system, HRMS and other local and ward based systems which support care and treatment
- To co-operate with nursing, medical and auxiliary staff to ensure that effective relationships are maintained within the ward/department team.
- To maintain knowledge of and work in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
- To attend in-service training programs as required.
- To assist in the induction of new staff to ward/department as requested.
Essential Criteria:
- 5 GCSE's or equivalent, including English Language (Grades A-C) and 1 year's relevant clerical experience
OR
NVQ (Admin or Care) Level 2 and 1 year's relevant clerical or care experience
OR
2 years relevant clerical or care experience
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of software programs
