Band 3 Ward Support Officer is required on a temporary basis based in Antrim
Role: Band 3 Ward Support Officer
Rate of Pay: £10.40 per hour
1. Clinical/Professional/Specific Managerial Responsibilities
·Liaise with nursing staff regarding patient enquiries
·Liaise with the support services teams to ensure ward hygiene and cleanliness is maximized
·Forward suggestions for quality improvement, e.g. in relation to furniture and fittings to improve the patient experience
·Support the ward sister/charge nurse in the completion of patient satisfaction surveys and audits of hygiene, nutrition and other areas of care identified by the ward sister/charge nurse
·Co-operate in maintaining a safe environment through adherence to all infection control and ward hygiene procedures.
·Establish and maintain effective communication networks within the team and external stakeholders, service users and public in line with the communication strategy
2. Generic managerial responsibilities both within an operational and strategic context.
·To help maintain a safe environment in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Order (N.I. 1979).
·To report accidents/incidents immediately to the Nurse in Charge, and provide information as required in the investigation of same, both verbally and in writing as required.
·Co-operate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure open lines of communication.
·Proficient in the patient administration system, HRMS and other local and ward based systems which support care and treatment
·To co-operate with nursing, medical and auxiliary staff to ensure that effective relationships are maintained within the ward/department team.
·To maintain knowledge of and work in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
·To attend in-service training programs as required.
·To assist in the induction of new staff to ward/department as requested.
- 5 GCSE's or equivalent, including English Language (Grades A-C) and 1 year's relevant clerical experience OR NVQ (Admin or Care) Level 2 and 1 year's relevant clerical or care experience OR 2 years relevant clerical or care experience
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of software programs
