MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Responsible and accountable for the day to day planning and co-ordination of the building elements, pool plant and technical equipment repairs and maintenance of Leisure Centre within the Waste & Building Services section.
Provide a creative and innovative approach to the operational maintenance, repairs and development of the following key functional areas:
- Building Maintenance;
- Pool Plant;
- Technical equipment;
- Legislation Monitoring;
The post holder will be expected to be able to carry out general maintenance of the building, plant and technical systems to the prescribed routine and be capable of conducting diagnostic tests and repairs (or arrangement of repair) of any faults found in the various technical systems or equipment within the facility.
The post holder will also be responsible for the day to day supervision of the Pool Plant Operative. 37hpw Mon-Frid
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Day to day supervision of the leisure centre Pool Plant Operative and also supervision and monitoring of technical contractors working in the facility.
- Maintain and implement the planned maintenance programme for plant and technical systems.
- Provide daily maintenance reports for the Senior Building and Pool Plant Technician
- Assist the Senior Building and Pool Plant Technician with the implementation of a 10-year building maintenance plan in relation to the build fabric elements and plant in your facility.
- Assist with any mechanical and electrical elements of in-house projects as required.
- Carry out daily, weekly and monthly statutory and essential maintenance checks in the format already in operation within the department.
- Carry out the monitoring and recording of all testing, checks and maintain an up to date building logbook.
- Maintain the day-to-day running of the leisure centres Legionella Risk Management Programme.
- Contribute to the leisure centre achievement of 'Quest' quality award for leisure.
- Carry out risk assessments for all mechanical and electrical works for key functional areas including review evaluation criteria.
- Liaise with the leisure centre Management team to ensure minimum disruption to customers when maintenance work is being carried out within the facility.
- Deputise for the Senior Building and Pool Plant Technician as requested within the post-holder's sphere of responsibility.
- Provide an "out of hours" call out service for the Leisure Centre.
- Any other appropriate duties as may be allocated, including interchange of duties to cover for leave, sickness and employee vacancies within any other of Councils facilities.

Applicants must possess:
A mechanical or electrical qualification.
AND
Be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have 2 years' experience in a mechanical and electrical environment, to include:
* Delivery of a planned maintenance and repair programme for pool plant and technical systems.
* Delivery of structured mandatory testing and legislative monitoring programmes.
* Day-to-day running of a leisure centres Legionella Risk Management Programme.
Alternatively, consideration may be given to applicants who do possess a mechanical or electrical qualification and can demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have 4 years' experience in a mechanical and electrical environment, to include:
* Delivery of a planned maintenance and repair programme for plant and technical systems.
* Delivery of structured mandatory testing and legislative monitoring programmes.
* Day-to-day running of a Legionella Risk Management Programme.
AND
A Legionella Awareness Certificate
Knowledge of current legislation, inspection regimes and recording data in relation to Legionella.
Sound knowledge of Health and Safety legislation including risk assessments and COSHH.
Practical understanding of the main issues and developments affecting service delivery within the service portfolio within the Borough.
A clear understanding of the workings of local government and the wider environment and political context in which it operates.
Competent in the use of a range of computer packages including Microsoft Office.
