Client: Chief State Solicitor's Office (CSSO)
The function of the CSSO is to act as Solicitor to Ireland, the Attorney General, Government Departments and Offices. The wide remit of the civil business of the CSSO means that staff are involved in many aspects of legal work. The CSSO provides these legal services for the State across five (5) legal Divisions and services including a wide range of civil litigation services in all courts (including the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg); conveyancing and property law services; commercial contract services; public procurement and State Aid advice; general legal advisory services; and, legal services to Government Departments and Offices before Tribunals of Inquiry, Commissions of Investigation and other statutory inquiries.
Role Description Clerical Officer
The nature of the work carried out by a Clerical Officer may vary depending on the Section and Division business requirements of the CSSO. It will involve such clerical/administrative tasks as may be assigned to the Clerical Officer from time to time. The following reflects the typical duties a Clerical Officer will/may be required to undertake, if appointed:
- General clerical work e.g. filing, photocopying, answering/making telephone calls, dealing with emails, reception desk duties, etc. under the supervision of a designated people manager
- Using Information Technology on a daily basis, e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, database, email and internet
- Carrying out routine accounts and/or finance work
- Communicating and dealing with the public/clients e.g. responding to queries and providing information face-to-face, by telephone or via email
- Maintaining high quality records in a thorough and organised manner
- Checking all work thoroughly to ensure it is completed to a high standard
- Supporting people managers and colleagues
- Working as part of a team in delivering services
- Providing the highest quality standards in customer service
- Approaching work in a careful and methodical manner, displaying accuracy at all times, even when conducting routine/repetitive work
- Any other duties deemed appropriate and assigned from time to time
