Job description

This global insurance broker, one of Northern Irelands' leading firms, has been providing a range of insurance services to their clients for over 30 years.

Grafton Specialist team are working with them to recruit an Account Handler to operate from their Belfast office.


This is an excellent role for an experienced Account Handler to join this established local broker during a period of exciting growth. The Role:

  • Assist and support Account Executives to ensure that all client's instructions and requirements are handled promptly and accurately.
  • Providing quotations and arranging new business.
  • Dealing effectively with customers' needs, e.g. Handling of adjustments, renewals and any other queries which may arise.
  • Handling of customer complaints in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintaining FCA Compliance at all times.
  • Maintain effective communication with all contacts, including insurance companies.

The Person:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working as an Account Handler, ideally in commercial insurance.
  • Ideally you will be qualified to A-Level standard and candidates must be able to evidence a minimum of 5 GCSE's at Grade C or above, including Maths and English, or equivalent.
  • Experienced knowledge of commercial insurance markets locally in order to deal effectively with client and company needs.
  • Experienced at new business sales process and track record of converting prospects to clients.
  • Skilled at building effective relationships, at all levels, with clients, prospects, associates, insurers and external specialists.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Experience of working with and adhering to processes and systems to support client service delivery.
