Job description

Grafton are currently recruiting for an experienced Consultant Clinical Psychologist B8, based in Antrim. This is a temporary position to cover maternity leave (8-12month) vacancy with 15 hours per week.

Experience Required

Doctoral level knowledge (or equivalent) of clinical psychology recognised by the British

Psychological Department (BPS) or BPS statement of equivalence.

Currently registered with the Health Care Professions Council

Post-doctoral training in a specialised area of psychological practice relevant to clinical psychology as applied to mental health, health psychology or occupational health services.

Experience of supervising qualified Clinical Psychologists or other qualified staff delivering Psychological Therapies Experience of teaching, training other professionals in psychological approaches Experience of delivering staff support.

Experience of representing psychology within the context of a multi-disciplinary team.

Extensive experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment

Experience of working with people who have mental health needs.

Formal training in the supervision of others. Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS and HCPC

Skills and Abilities

A warm and empathic manner with the enthusiasm and ability to contribute to a team approach.

Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.

Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, at both a written and oral level, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional persons, both within and outside the Health and Social Services.

Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.

Ability to initiate, implement and evaluation service developments.

Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals particularly within the context of a multi-disciplinary team.

Ability to identify and employ, as appropriate, clinical governance mechanisms for the support and maintenance of clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour.

Ability to develop and use complex multi-media materials for presentations in public, professional and academic settings.

Knowledge

Knowledge of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings.

Doctoral level knowledge of clinical psychology.

Doctoral level knowledge of research design and Methodology including complex multivariate data analysis as Practiced within the field of clinical psychology.

Knowledge of current issues, policies and guidelines for psychological service provision

Knowledge of current issues in HSC
