Job description

Our Client, A Large Public Sector Organisation based in Coleraine require a Deputy Registrar to join their team.

Role : Deputy Registrar

Location : Coleraine

Hours of Work : 22.20 Monday/Thursday/Friday

Hourly Rate : 1-12 weeks £12.65 13 weeks + £14.63

Main Duties :

  • Responsible to the Registrar for undertaking the duties necessary for the provision and administration of a confidential and efficient Registration Service for Births, Deaths, Marriages and Civil Partnerships.
  • To have a comprehensive and working knowledge of all relevant legislation, including Acts, Orders and Statutory Regulations and to make such decisions as authorised by statute and regulation concerning all Registration duties.
  • To officiate at marriage and civil partnership ceremonies in Council premises and at other approved venues.
  • Ensure that the department complies with all statutory and legislative requirements by adhering to these requirements and working in accordance with good governance and health and safety requirements.
  • Ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely and effective manner and that general confidentiality is maintained in all areas relating to the work of the Council.

Essential Criteria :

  • Five GCSE's (grades A-C) including English Language or equivalent qualifications.

AND

  • One year's relevant experience in at least two of the following areas:
  • carrying out formal registration duties involving members of the public;
  • dealing with members of the public with tact, diplomacy and sensitivity;
  • cash handling, reconciliation and lodgments.

OR

  • Alternatively consideration may be given to applicants who do not hold the required qualifications as detailed but can demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have two years' relevant experience in at least two of the areas outlined above.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation relating to registration duties.
  • A full current driving licence (Category B, valid in the UK) and access to a vehicle that will enable the post holder to meet the requirements of the post OR have access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post.
