Design Engineer
Belfast
£25,000 to £35,000
As a member of the Operations Team, the Design Engineer will be responsible for product design, research, prototyping, engineering documentation, CNC programming, estimating and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Use applicable/available software to create models and drawings of products
- Research new materials and methods of development
- Organise and maintain existing engineering records
- Construct prototypes and confirm designs with design/purchasing team
- Perform physical testing on engineering prototypes including Sample First Article Inspections prior to dispatch to customer.
- Ensure components and assemblies follow applicable industry and business standards
- Customer satisfaction: Ensuring customer requirements are met and communicated effectively - both internal and external customers
- Change management: To actively generate new and improved methods of working and production processes.
- Researching whether the design will work and be cost-effective
- Assessing the usability, environmental impact, and safety of a design
- Using computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-assisted engineering (CAE) software to create prototypes
- Collecting and analysing data from tests on prototypes
- Modifying designs and retesting them
- Writing regular progress reports and presenting them to project managers and clients
- Produce designs to achieve best yield and agree MOQ for sales to communicate to customers.
Criteria
- 5 years minimum relevant experience.
- In-depth knowledge of AutoCAD & SolidWorks 3D CAD software
- Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Understanding of current CNC technology
- Impeccable attention to detail
- Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively
