Job description
Employee Support Officer required for a large public sector organisation based through a large public sector company.
Location: Belfast City Centre
Hours: 37 hours per week
Duration: Until April 2024
JOB SUMMARY / MAIN PURPOSE:
You will be responsible for providing specific employee support and counselling services directly to company employees, including the coordination of all aspects of Employee Assistance Program (EAP) support. In addition, you will provide a comprehensive advice service to company management in relation to the welfare of staff. The role will require you to lead and develop the company Health and Wellbeing strategy.
KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
The post holder will be required to carry out a range of duties which may include all or some of the following:
Formally evaluate and provide support or therapy strategies which will contribute to the wellbeing of employees by combining professionalism, objectivity, and care in an atmosphere of trust and commercial awareness.
- Advise professionally Managers, HR Managers and such medical, counselling or associated professionals and agencies as are engaged at any time. In addition, the job holder will be required to contribute towards employee's continual availability and fitness for work.
- Provide support to employees and their representatives or immediate family with the management of sickness absence, bereavement, the recuperation and rehabilitation of resettled employees following accidents, assaults, trauma related incidents and illness.
- Provide professional support to employees at the request of the HR Dept, Managers and/or Occupational Health when employees are recommended for ill-health early retirement/or job adjustment or redeployment under the DDA.
- Assess, support and continually monitor, 'safety critical' railway staff and advise management on welfare matters accordingly. Monitor and support a return to normal working or stand down after life events, psychological disturbance or incidents on the railway line, to help management ensure safe working practices.
- Assist in the development and provision of a post critical incident service to employees.
- Recruit, train and manage a team of harassment advisors dealing with a variety of issues raised by employees.
- Recruit and train Wellbeing and Menopause Champions, and Mental Health First Aiders.
- Assist and support managers with the necessary communication and consultation processes with employees and their representatives when employees are absent from work.
- Contribute to projects training and development work relating to employee support matters in order to contribute to the strategic objectives set by HR.
- Contribute to the development of policies, systems and procedures relating to welfare matters
- Provide self-help and promote education training and professional social welfare information in order to meet HR's employee support objectives.
- Provide appropriate periodic reports on the management of sickness absence, trauma and assault absence, rehabilitation and resettlement and other welfare matters.
- Responsible for leading and developing the Company Health & Well-Being strategy
- Generate Wellbeing initiatives and source Wellbeing programmes to meet the needs of the employees physical and mental needs
- Responsible for all internal communications relating to Wellbeing including campaign management, Intranet, U-Link, and social media.
- Ensure appropriate consideration is given to the organisation's equality duties as well as specific commitments associated with your job role.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Minimum of a Degree Qualification in Psychology, Social Science, Social Work or related subject
- Possess a postgraduate diploma/MSC in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and/or EMDR qualification recognised by BACP or BABCP
- Possess full accreditation of BACP/BABCP
- A minimum of 3 years social welfare experience in an organisational context to include no less than 450 hours supervised practice in one to one trauma counselling post qualification
- Experience of presenting issues regarding trauma referrals
- Experience of successful collaboration with both cross divisional and external stakeholders
- Experience of using MS Office Packages
- Full Current Driving licence with access to personal transport to meet the requirements of the post in full
