Financial Assistant- Band 4
Lurgan
Temporary
The Client: Local Healthcare body based in Lurgan, serving local residents.
The Role:
- Responsible for the provision of timely, relevant and accurate financial information for month end and annual reporting in accordance with strict deadlines which will enable the Trust to fulfil its statutory obligations.
- Assist in the preparation of the Trust's statutory accounts, namely the Trust's Annual Report and Accounts, Charitable Funds, Patients Funds, WGA and Interim Accounts in accordance with the Department of Health's Manual of Accounts and other guidance.
- Support the Head of Service in preparation of financial information for relevant committees.
- Assist in the maintenance of a balanced trial balance supported by control accounts reconciled promptly on a regular basis.
Financial Systems
- Support the administration, maintenance, and development of financial systems operating within the Finance, Procurement & Estates Directorate.
- Assist with maintaining the integrity of the Trust's various financial systems through the application of sound policies, procedures and controls, whilst ensuring all deadlines are adhered to.
- Ensure systems access / approval rights are compliant with the Trust's Standing Orders (SOs), Standing Financial Instructions (SFI's) and Schemes of Delegation (SoDs).
- Assist in the maintenance of reporting structures in FPL, ensuring that they meet the needs of all Finance functions.
- Investigate and resolve end user system queries and problems, ensuring all are dealt with on a timely basis.
- Assist and support the on time processing of all interfaces, ensuring that all controls and checks have been completed successfully and in accordance with strict deadlines.
- Draft, maintain and regularly review written operational procedures for the areas of work which ensure the Trust complies with all statutory and departmental policies and guidelines.
- Develop and deliver Systems Training to Finance Directorate staff.
- Support staff and provide advice in relation to the safe and effective use of ICT systems to enhance service provision.
- Assist with maintenance of the Directorate's Sharepoint site.
- Create, review and input any required Finance Journals to General Ledger.
- Liaise with Internal & External Stakeholders regularly regarding regional system issues.
General Finance Responsibilities
- Ensure that all deadlines are adhered to and provide guidance for their Team in achieving these deadlines.
- Develop and maintain appropriate systems for the efficient flow and recording of information on staff commencements, transfers and terminations etc, particularly in relation to liaison with HR/Payroll/BSO SSC departments.
- Ensure that all correspondence and queries are dealt with in an appropriate and prompt manner, taking into account all relevant policy and procedures.
- Support Internal / External Auditors with investigations
- Contribute to the effective management, use and maintenance of all physical assets by the Finance Team.
Hours of work: Full Time 37.5 hours per week
Requirements:
- HNC / HND or equivalent / higher qualification in a business/finance related field AND 1 years' experience in a Finance role at Band 3 or equivalent
OR 4 GCSEs at Grade A-C including English Language and Maths or equivalent / higher qualification AND 2 years' experience in a Finance role at Band 3 or equivalent
- OR 3 years' experience in a Finance role at Band 3 or equivalent
