Job description
Fitness Instructor required for Larne - As and when required - Successful candidates will be required to work Monday to Sunday, evenings and public holidays as dictated by the needs of the service.- 11.39ph - ongoing temporary
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Responsible for the efficient operation of the Fitness Suite within Larne Leisure Centre, advising customers on all aspects of fitness and health while ensuring a high level of customer care.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Service Delivery
1.1 Prescribe exercise programmes to new and existing customers as requested, as well as providing advice on diet and lifestyle. This includes special populations such as GP Referral, Special Needs centres and Cardiac / Pulmonary Rehab patients (where staff have the necessary qualifications).
1.2 Responsible for the induction of new and existing members as well as fitness testing, as and when required.
1.3 Provide a high level of internal and external customer service including taking ownership of customer queries and complaints, enquiries and related administration.
1.4 Actively promote sales - conducting 'tours' of the Fitness suite and helping to sell memberships to prospective members, as well as developing new business generally. Review and maintain existing members through motivation and retention programmes, taking positive action to reactivate inactive members and encourage new members to remain active.
1.5 Actively promote events and facilities within the Leisure Centre to potential and existing customers and engage in marketing initiatives devised specifically for the Fitness Suite.
1.6 Carry out daily safety inspections of all equipment in the Fitness Suite, reporting any defects to the Duty Manager.
1.7 Maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness within the Fitness Suite.
1.8 Responsible for the safety of the facility and equipment, reporting defects/ faults and performing minor maintenance/repairs as required.
1.9 Participate in staff training and development in compliance with the staff training policy to continuously develop personal knowledge, competency and skills to enhance internal and external customer service. Provide on-the-job training to others as required and participate in staff meetings.
1.10 Deliver coaching courses/activity sessions on behalf of the Leisure Centre - as qualifications permit.
1.11 Collect and check receipts from users, monitoring entry to facilities and activities.
1.12 Assist with end of evening security checks and lock up procedure throughout the Leisure Centre.
1.13 Assist with the general cleaning of the building, as well as dismantling and erection of sports equipment in all areas of the building, as and when required.
Essential Criteria;
A recognised Fitness Instructor qualification i.e. Reps Level II Fitness Instructor, OCR II, GNVQ II, Gayton or equivalent.
