Fitness Instructor - Temporary - Casual oncall - As and when required - Successful candidates will be required to work Monday to Sunday, evenings and public holidays as dictated by the needs of the service. - Ballymena- £11.81ph
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The post holder will be responsible for the efficient operation of the Fitness Suite within the Seven Towers Leisure Centre.
To ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely effective manner.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.1. Responsible for induction of new members, and provision of up to date instruction in all aspects of fitness, For example supervise and prepare individually tailored fitness programmes for members, continuously monitor and evaluate programmes, supervise safe use of equipment, correctly demonstrate exercises and provide advice on nutrition and weight management programmes.
1.2. Offer tailored inductions and fitness instruction for groups. This will include special groups such as, Special Needs groups, school groups, physio referrals and cardiac rehab patients, where necessary qualifications have been attained.
1.3. Offer individually tailored fitness programmes for members referred to the centre as part of a G.P. Referral Scheme, ensuring completion of defined documentation.
1.4. Ensure that members are provided with an innovative and exciting health and leisure programme in line with pre-set guidelines.
1.5. Assist with any lessons, training or coaching courses and special events when required. Including groups with special needs.
1.6. Contribute to the induction of new staff and work placements in all aspects of the Profile's fitness suite.
1.7. Provide a quality internal/external customer care service including taking ownership of customer queries and complaints, providing information on all centre facilities, booking enquiries and related administration to ensure high standards of service provision.
1.8. Actively increase membership by providing prospective members with information on services, membership packages available for Profiles Fitness Suite and arranging appointments for first time users.
1.9. Assist in all aspects of the administration of the facility. (E.g. arrange appointments for first time users, stock replenishment) and completing written/computerised records when appropriate.
1.10. Undertake and maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the fitness suite and its surrounding area in accordance with the centres Cleaning Work Instructions. This includes the use of appropriate protective clothing, mechanical and electrical cleaning equipment.
1.11. Carry out daily facility inspection for Profile's Fitness Suite, to include cleanliness, safety of facility and equipment, assisting with the opening and closing of the fitness suite, reporting any faults/defects and performing or arranging minor repairs.
1.12. Complete all documentation pertaining to the post ensuring accurate details are recorded in case a court appearance may be requested i.e. safety checks, daily cleaning schedule, facility checks, accident and incident report forms etc keeping the Senior Attendant/Duty Officer informed of any findings.
1.13. Collect and check receipts from users, monitoring entry to facilities and activities in accordance with the centre's access policy for the fitness suite.
1.14. To actively participate in the centres achievement/maintenance of Quest, in particular criteria relating to the operation and development of a fitness suite facility.
1.15. Actively participate in the centres ongoing training plan and any additional training needs identified.
1.16. Demonstrate a team approach to achieving the objectives of the section through full flexibility in relation to tasks undertaken.
1.17. Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety requirements and legislation in accordance with Ballymena Borough Councils policies and procedures, taking into consideration specifically the Health and Safety of yourself, work colleagues, centre users and contractors
1.18. Perform any other duties, which ensure the smooth operation of the facilities.
1.19. Perform all duties in accordance with the Council's Health and Safety Policy.
1.20. Communicate fully with the Centre Duty Managers, colleagues and customers on all aspects of operation of the Fitness Suite in order to enhance the service provided.
Essential Criteria -
A current recognised fitness qualification e.g. BAWLA, NIIC; a proven track record on fitness training/instruction; good written and verbal communication.
Six months' experience of working in a Fitness Suite or similar relevant environment.
In addition candidates must have and maintain a sufficient level of fitness to satisfactorily discharge the duties and responsibilities of the post.
