Salary Point 29 £30,000 per annum, Plus 6% pension

ASCERT has grown to become one of the leading drug and alcohol service providers in Northern Ireland. We have extensive experience delivering one to one services to adults, young people and families, education programmes to young people and workforce development training to professionals across all sectors. ASCERT also support communities in addressing drugs and alcohol issues. ASCERT operate from bases in Lisburn (Head Office), Omagh and Belfast.
ASCERT requires £2.2million resources annually to help meet its objectives and provide our essential services. Income generation is a huge resource commitment and plays a significant role in the development and success of our organisation. The majority of ASCERTs income comes from contracts with Public Health Agency and PBNI with smaller amounts of income from grants including from SEHSCT, PCSPs and Children in Need. Income is also generated from ASCERTs social enterprise training services.
This role is looking for someone to work with the management team in developing and achieving a successful income generation strategy to further diversify ASCERTs funding sources and to help connect future service needs to the income opportunities with the most potential for success.
Securing of funding through tenders and grant making bodies.
Support the development and implementation of an income generation strategy.
Meet ambitious annual income generation targets.
Collaboration with management team in understanding future service and other organisational needs and then identifying eligible income sources with most potential for success.
Research and identify appropriate sources of funding from tenders, grants and charitable trusts etc. developing a database of opportunities.
Examine the background of each potential income source to determine their criteria, interests, funding timetables and other requirements
Work in partnership with ASCERT staff in the planning, completion and submission of high quality tenders and applications to funders, leading on specific funding opportunities as required.
Draft comprehensive, well-structured and logical funding proposals/bids that present a convincing case for support
Support the development of the skills of key staff through the development and delivery of a funding skills development plan.
Seek feedback on unsuccessful bids and develop action plans for continuous improvement
Maintain robust processes for the management and retention of funder contracts and related paperwork.
Charitable giving income generation
With senior management assess charitable giving as a viable income generation approach for ASCERT.
Assess ASCERT's charitable giving fundraising strategy to ensure fit for purpose.
Manage the reinitiation of charitable giving fundraising function if required.
Line manage fundraising personnel as department prospers.
Encourage and nurture a dynamic and innovative approach to funding development, taking advantage of digital adoption where possible
Undertake any other duties that might reasonably be required by the Senior Management Team
Contribute to the delivery of ASCERT's strategic plan and annual business plans as part of the management team

A. Fundraising track record gained through working in a significant fundraising role for a minimum of 3 years
B. Excellent written skills in producing concise and creative funding documents and bids that have secured significant funding
C. Experience of meeting financial targets and competent budget management
D. Excellent project management skills
The following DESIRABLE criteria should also be evidenced in the covering letter accompanying your CV. Some or all of the desirable criteria may be assessed at shortlisting stage.
E. A qualification in a related discipline such as fundraising, business, management practice
F. Experience of leading a team on preparing funding proposals/ tenders
G. Experience of working in a charitable giving fundraising function in an organisation.
H. Good understanding of the community / voluntary sector and its funding environment
I. Membership of the Institute of Fundraising
The following Criteria will be assessed at interview stage only
J. Sound planning and organisational skills to work proactively with minimum supervision to achieve deadlines and objectives.
K. Proficiency in using IT applications such as Microsoft office, Office 365, information management systems.
L. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, to include delivery of presentations to a variety of audiences as well as communicating online.
M. Empathy with ASCERT's purpose and values
N. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective internal and external working relationships
O. Ability to work flexible hours (with notice) and to travel throughout Northern Ireland at times demanded by the job.
