We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of IT to join our team in Belfast (part time working available on request). We would like to hear from you if you are driven and are interested in working in a fast paced environment.

The Person

The ideal candidate for this position will deliver the Staffline Ireland IT strategic plan and change programme, provide a first class IT support and maintenance service and take overall responsibility for internal and external relationship management. The role will oversee the performance and development of all IT Infrastructure and Applications, including hardware, software (including core line of business applications), network infrastructure (including LAN and WAN) and telephony (fixed and mobile). Additionally, the role will also oversee the management of 2 experienced IT professionals.

Main Duties & Responsibilities


  • Drive the technology agenda for the business and lead the development and implementation of fit-for-purpose IT infrastructure and systems
  • Identify improvements to IT infrastructure and systems in support of current and future business needs

Operational Delivery

  • Manage ongoing delivery of the IT Service to the business, including cost effective and reliable network management, user management and IT asset management
  • Develop and monitor customer service metrics

People Management

  • Effectively manage relationships with 3rd party suppliers and vendors across IT and Telecoms, ensuring SLA's are clearly set and delivered upon, taking appropriate proactive action to correct under-performance
  • Lead the IT team by setting a customer focused and quality orientated agenda and a positive example to the rest of the business in terms of professionalism, proactivity and responsiveness

Programme Management & Change

  • Prepare business cases to support strategic change and ensure appropriate sign-off
  • Programme manage the IT strategy including cross-project inter-dependencies, risks and issues and deliver upon specific projects, ensuring projects adhere to plans, deliverables, milestones and risk management

Financial Management

  • Create and manage the IT capital and operational expenditure budgets

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the jobholder is required to perform other duties assigned by the Line Manager from time to time and work on ad-hoc projects

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum of 8 years in IT support, including managing SLA's with external vendors and outsource partners
  • Experience of working with a Citrix and / or VMWare environment
  • Excellent knowledge of IT infrastructure and LOB application management
  • Track record of programme and project management, including cross-functional experience
  • Excellent experience of managing and delivering against budget responsibilities
  • Strong leadership and people management experience
  • Third level qualification in computing or computer engineering
  • Full, clean driving licence as occasional travel required throughout NI and ROI

Desirable Criteria

  • Prince 2 qualification
  • Good presentation skills
  • Experience of working in ITIL and ISO accredited environments
