Job description

IT Infrastructure Support Technician



The Client: Local Public body based in Lisburn, serving local residents

The Role: The post holder will be responsible for working in one or many specialist areas of ICT including but not limited to: technical support, applications support, service desk, software development, web design, communications & network support, desktop support, systems integration and data warehousing.

Service Delivery

  1. Provide ICT services as part of a specialist ICT services or project team
  2. Proactive monitoring of Infrastructure and Application services
  3. Technical support services for Infrastructure such as desktops and mobile clients, servers, operating systems, storage, networking and domain services (DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, etc.)
  4. Development, configuration and support of databases
  5. Develop and Modify software as directed
  6. Provide ICT Technical expertise, feedback and guidance

Quality & IT Service Management Best Practice

  1. Participate fully in quality initiatives particularly those involving ITS and specifically the application of ISO 20000;
  2. Use and compliance with the ITS service management processes for all processes including management and functional escalation of problems and incidents; change, release and configuration management

Financial and Resource Management

  1. Assist the Service Manager with the planning of delegated budgets, deployment of financial resources and personnel in a timely manner to meet planned milestones and timetables;

People Management and Development

  1. Participate personally in the organisation's Performance Review Scheme and review individually on a regular basis the performance of any direct reports, providing guidance on personal development requirements and advice on appropriate action;

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9.00am- 5.30pm


  • GCSE Mathematics & English (Grades A-C) OR equivalent qualification to demonstrate literacy and numeracy OR higher qualification AND 2 A Levels equivalent OR higher qualification AND At least 1 year's relevant experience OR At least 18 months relevant experience
  • Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.
  • Ability to work as an effective member of a team and a proven ability work on own initiative with minimum supervision


  • ITIL Foundation certificate
  • Experience in providing customer support services
