The Role: Our client based in Newry requires a Joiner to join their company. This is a rewarding position working within the social housing sector in Northern Ireland. You will join an existing team of staff in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain communication with peers, client services team, contractors and management
- Responsible for measurements and quality control
- Responsible for acting safely and following all company HS protocols
- Carry out repairs, reactive maintenance and minor installation works within qualified work areas
- Attend, diagnose and repair faults/issues having due regard to customer care in this specific environment
- Commitment to a call out rota
- Complete the relevant paperwork and report diligently
- Carry out the actual work to the high quality standards that the company expect
- Uphold Data Protection Policies
- Travel across Northern Ireland and Ireland as required with main work located Greater Belfast and County Down
- Check integrity of fire doors
- Adhere to all health & safety regulations and company policy at all times
- Report any accidents or issues regarding health & safety appropriately
- Ensure all Risk Assessments & safe systems of work are read, understood, signed and followed
- Observe & follow all manual handling practices
- As part of our recruitment process an Access NI disclosure will also be required.
- The role may also require the successful candidate to undertake work specific training on the job or externally
Essential requirements:
- Experience of - 1st and 2nd fix joinery (2nd fix predominantly), fitting wall and floor tiles, kitchen fitting etc.
- Completed trade apprenticeship
- Full clean driving License
- Experience of working at heights / roof repairs desirable
- Experience of working on maintenance contracts/Construction industry preferred
- Fire door qualification (desirable)
- Full UK Driving License
- Be capable of working on own initiative
- Ability to work methodically and with attention to detail
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Have a good timekeeping and attendance record
- Have the ability to work with a wide range of people
- Be a good team player
- Demonstrate ability to follow written and verbal directions
- Demonstrate a flexible attitude towards assigned tasks
- Be reliable & committed
- Have ability to work to deadlines
- Participate in overtime when required (including weekends)
- Have ability to take on new skills
- Have a positive approach to continuous improvement processes and techniques
Hours of work: Mon - Fri (40 hours per week)
Salary: £13 per hour
