Logistics Operations Apprentice

We are seeking to appoint a Logistics Operations Apprentice to join the team of one of our clients based in Magherafelt on a full time permanent basis.

Purpose of the Job:

As a Logistics Operations Apprentice you will work as a critical part of the supply chain within the despatch department, planning and ensuring successful delivery of materials to the industry.

As part of your apprenticeship, you will be released to Transport Training Services (TTS) to study the Logistics Operations Apprenticeship. You will follow a structured training and development programme and gain a qualification in Logistic Operations.

Reporting and working with:

You will work within our despatch department under the support and supervision of a dedicated mentor.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Optimising the use of logistics resources
  • Making an effective contribution to a business in the logistics sector
  • Improving performance in logistics operations
  • Undertaking allocated work and checking work in your team in logistics operations
  • Maintaining the safety and security of hazardous goods and materials in logistics
  • Minimising the environmental impact of logistics operations
  • Scheduling logistics operations to meet customer requirements
  • Arranging transportation of goods using multiple transport modes
  • Utilising technology in logistics operations
  • Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements in logistics operations
  • Responding to problems in logistics operations
  • Contributing to the provision of customer service in logistics operations

What does the client require from you?


  • Meet the requirements of the apprenticeship programme
  • English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent) at grade C or above
  • Be computer literate
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritise work
  • Excellent communication skills with an effective telephone manner
  • Ability to manage a number of tasks concurrently
  • Ability to work flexibly on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Hold a valid driving licence

Hours of Work:

  • Monday to Friday - 10 hours per day between 6.30am and 5.30am
  • There will also be a Saturday rota too
