Job description

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Criteria

  • A relevant third level qualification (e.g. mechanical or manufacturing engineering), although 'qualification' by experience is just as acceptable as a formal academic qualification, plus a minimum of 4 years in a role providing Manufacturing Engineering type support including project management, improving tooling & fixturing , and leading improvements by applying lean tools such as PQPR, VSM, SMED, TPM & standard work .
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

JOB SUMMARY: Oversees the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency. Ensures the engineering team and other manufacturing departments work together cohesively.

This position is responsible for the development of equipment & processes to aid in the manufacturing process.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and design plant layouts and facilities
  • Study new & existing machinery and facilities and recommend or select efficient combinations (Lean Machining)
  • Develop flexible or integrated manufacturing systems and procedures
  • Analysis of costs of production
  • Provide analysis of Machine capabilities and develop preferred routings.
  • Participate on Process new technology development to meet product design requirements and improvements.
  • Plan lead & implement VSM, SMED, Standard Work and TPM events to improve flow, throughput, Manufacturing cell visual control and productivity.
  • Participate in special projects, as required; coordination between other functional areas.
  • Provide liaison between manufacturing and support groups such as Engineering Design & Internal Sales as needed.
  • Provide short and long range planning on equipment, facilities and manufacturing methods in support of the businesses strategic goals and/or SDP.
  • Responsible for the implementation and tracking / corrective actions for the Production Process.
  • Safety - Demonstrate safe work habits daily including proper use of protective equipment, appropriate use of parts handling equipment and methods, correct disposal of waste and notification of hazardous conditions to Manager or Safety Representative.
  • To carry out risk assessments in all areas of Production Department; investigate all reported accidents including 5 Why analysis.
  • Manage the CNC Programmer/Methods Engineer regarding availability of programmes & tooling etc. to meet production requirements.

Rate of Pay: £15/hr

Monday - Thursday 8-4.30pm and Friday 8-1.30pm

Potentially up to 6 months and review
