Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client is a world-renowned leading manufacturer of gravimetric blenders and automation machinery for the worldwide plastics industry. Founded in 1977, they are a privately owned family business, headquartered in Dundalk, Co. Louth, with sales and service offices in the US & China. Customers include many blue-chip clients and household names. Their products are used to improve end product quality, reduce waste, avoid scrap, and improve recycling rates in plastics production processes.

Our organisation has grown significantly in recent times and as a result we have an immediate position for a Mechanical Design Engineer.

The purpose of this role is to develop concepts, designs & models, and documentation for a range of existing and new industry automation products and machinery.

Key responsibilities:

• Produce 3D mechanical designs and drawings for manufacturing & assembly purposes
• Organise models, drawings and documentation into Solidworks Enterprise Product Data Management system (PDM)
• Drawing revision control
• Part numbering
• Produce Bills of Materials in SAP Business One
• Liaise with sales & operations to understand customer requirements and provide customer specific designs
• Liaise with suppliers on drawing related manufacturing queries and quality issues

Candidate Background

Essential:

• Proven Solidworks / Solidedge experience
• Sheet-metal design experience (in Solidworks), including the production of flat patterns
• Minimum 1 to 2 years industry experience in mechanical design
• Mechanical Design Engineering qualification

Desirable:

• Knowledge of PDM (Product Data Management) systems.
• Experience with cable and routing systems on 3D models
• Understanding of Pneumatics
• Design for manufacture experience
• Electrical Design Engineering qualification
