Nightshift Production Supervisor

Full Time Permanent


The Client: A manufacturing facility in Ballynahinch, Co. Down, which supplies high specification glass products for domestic and commercial use.

The Role:

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Nightshift Production Supervisor has responsibility to manage the Cell Leaders and Production Operators to ensure production schedules are met to agreed quality standards, whilst ensuring adherence to company health &safety policy.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure that Health and Safety rules and regulations are adhered to during the shift in line with the company's Health and Safety policy.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all equipment.
  • Ensure that the production area is regularly checked for any potential health & safety hazards and that any identified hazards are either promptly dealt with or raised with the Production Manager if longer term action is required.
  • Ensure all staff are wearing the appropriate PPE for a given processes.
  • Ensure cell operatives are not using their phones on the factory floor.
  • Participate in Health &Safety walks of the production area.
  • Assist BeyondHR in Health &Safety audits.
  • Assist the Management Team in the investigation and reporting of accidents and near misses.

HR &Training

  • Provide guidance, supervision and training to your associated team and any new employees, ensuring safe practices.
  • Review production staff performance and recommend improvement plans to the Production Manager.
  • Communicate and motivate coherently, both verbally and via written media.
  • Work closely with the Cell Leaders to ensure efficient use of resources, meet production targets and ensuring smooth production handovers between shifts.
  • Assist in disciplinary meetings and back to work interviews, as necessary.


  • Attend production meetings, providing feedback on daily output, quality, downtime, and any issues that will affect performance.
  • Ensure that the production targets are met, and orders meet delivery dates.
  • Be involved in and promote lean manufacturing projects.
  • Ensure that products are manufactured in line with the company's quality systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensure that the production cells are collaborating and communicating efficiently and promote the concept of 'internal customer'.
  • As key holder ensure appropriate procedures are maintained for opening and locking up. Safeguarding against theft or incidents by ensuring lights are turned off, compressors switched off, doors and roller shutters closed, heat turned off and the alarm set.
  • Ensure that the agreed working hours, including meal breaks and washing up times, are adhered to and the production manager is notified of any absences or reduced working hours for employees.
  • All overtime must be authorised by the production manager the day before. Any unauthorised overtime carried out will be paid.


  • Ensure that all company property and tools are properly maintained and not removed fi*om the works without management authorisation.
  • Ensure effective operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Attend monthly maintenance meetings as and when required.
  • Ensure regular housekeeping of machinery, collate and sign off related paperwork.
  • Ensure that high standards of housekeeping are maintained.


  • If required, be available to move between day shift to night shift.
  • Any other duties required by the Production Manager to support the successful operation of the Production Department.

Mon-Thurs 21:30pm - 7am
