Job description

Plant Maintenance Supervisor



The Client: Local Government body based in Co Down, serving local residents.

The Role: The post holder will be responsible for the efficient, economic and effective delivery of plant maintenance services and will be jointly responsible for the supervision of personnel in the plant maintenance functions of the department.

  • Assist with monitoring and approving systems for completed work. Certifying, checking and calculating time sheets, daily checks of plant rooms and public facilities to ensure all systems are in good working order and operating satisfactorily.
  • Implement and develop operational efficiency measures and re-scheduling projects for the plant maintenance function sections.
  • Carry out electrical installation work within complex and assist in the preparation of quotations for electrical installations. Ensure all health & safety legislation and procedures are complied with in relation to the services and activities within the facility.

Hours of work: 37hrs per week


  • Completed a recognised registered apprenticeship in a mechanical or electrical engineering craft (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
  • At least 3 years' post apprenticeship relevant experience in the maintenance, electrical services installations, plant and equipment
  • A minimum of 3 years supervisory experience within the electrical/plant maintenance industry
  • Demonstrate a minimum of three years' experience in the following areas: line management experience for a team of employees; setting work schedules and arranging deployment of employees to allocated work tasks
  • Experience of the maintenance and servicing of a minimum of two of the following, which should have been gained in a large plant environment: air handling units & associated equipment; industrial pumping systems; electrical installations; pluming installations and water filtration and water treatment systems. Where applicants do not hold the qualifications outlined above, a minimum of 5 years' experience is suitable
  • A full current UK driving license and access to a car
