Staffline recruitment are currently seeking a "Purchasing Manager" on behalf of our client based in Meath. This is a strategic level purchasing role where you will be expected to develop and deliver a robust purchasing function within the organisation. You will work closely with the Managing Director and internal and external stakeholders to set up and deliver sustainable purchasing procedures that drive continuous improvement across the business and its international supply chain. A key focus of this role is cost reduction and minimizing risk while maximizing value from suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders including Engineering, Quality and other departments to understand requirements and reduce cost while adhering to product specifications.
  • Implement global sourcing strategies which ensure the cost effective on time delivery of products to meet customer demand.
  • Work closely with Operations, Design, Quality and Process Engineering to contribute directly to continuous improvement activities, whilst taking ownership of cost reduction and implementation.
  • Review and rationalization of existing supply base to reduce costs and improve performance whilst ensuring quality standards are adhered to.
  • Manage risk and ensure continuity of supply.
  • Lead supplier negotiations for all raw material spend and implement commercially viable global supply contracts
  • Develop and implement supplier KPI's to drive and improve supplier performance - conduct supplier reviews and audits.
  • Ensure purchasing practices limit inventory holdings and maximize stock turns.
  • Manage and rectify supplier nonconformance using root cause analysis.
  • Establish and maintain solid business relationships with all suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Proactively monitor market supply conditions, gather and analyse data regarding trends, opportunities, innovations and risks.
  • To ensure all the minimum and maximum stock levels are reviewed quarterly and ensure the accuracy of this data.
  • Establish and maintain internal best practice purchasing SOPS and act as the key point of contact within the company for all matters relating to procurement.
  • Prepare reports on financial spend and savings for Senior Management
  • Oversee and support our purchasing staff.

Ideal Candidate

  • Must have strong track record in a purchasing or supplier management function with strong negotiation and organization skills.
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering product lines and specifications would be desirable.
  • Must have formal purchasing qualification.
  • Experience with supplier management programs.
  • Must have experience in locating and developing supplier partners.
  • Experience in purchasing in Europe and Asia.
  • Experience of working to targets in a similar role.
  • Must be a strong experienced negotiator, able to manage key suppliers at a senior level.
  • Excellent communicator with a can do attitude.
  • Strong influencing ability working across multi-functional departments.
  • International travel will be a key requirement of this role in the company.
