The Client: Local Public body based in Lisburn, serving local residents.
The Role:
To provide an historical research service for the general functions of the Museum, including the development of exhibitions, and to answer research enquiries from the public through the management of the Museum's reference libraries, archival collections and any associated resources. The post holder will act as a Duty Officer on a rota basis for the Centre/Museum; and when acting in this capacity be responsible for the safe and efficient control and management of the facility, staff and public. This will also involve acting as a first aider.
The post holder will undertake any other duties relevant to the post reasonably determined by the Museum Services Manager to meet changing business needs or requirements.
Hours of work: 37 hours per week
Requirements:
Education
A third level qualification for example degree, NVQ level 5 (or equivalent) in modern history or social and economic history (or equivalent).
A 2.1 Honours Degree (or equivalent) in modern history or social and economic history (or equivalent).
A post graduate degree (or equivalent) that has involved primary research in one or more of the following:
- Modern Irish History;
- Irish Social and Economic History.
Experience
Employment experience in writing and editing of educational text in at least one of the following:
public exhibition;
- web;
- printed literature.
- A high level of written communication skills demonstrated by authorship of papers in recognised academic research journals.
Technical Competencies/ Skills
Hold a full (i.e. not provisional) and current driving licence and access to a car or * have access to a means of transport which would enable the applicant to carry out the duties of the post.
