Senior Support Workers - Children's Residential

Coleraine

£19,404 - £20,462

Staffline Recruitment is delighted to working in partnership with Positive Futures, recruiting Senior Support Workers - Children's Residential, based in Coleraine, on a full-time permanent basis These roles will involve evening, weekend and unsocial hours.

Celebrating 25 years, Positive Futures has been at the forefront of working with individuals and families, supporting people with learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries and people on the autistic spectrum.

The Job

A full copy of the job description is available on request but you will:

  • Form a positive relationship with the person being supported, maintaining appropriate professional boundaries with them and their families
  • Always provide high quality support. This means giving each person the individual support they need in the morning, afternoon and at night-time, to live the life they want and achieve person centered outcomes
  • Ensure any risks that are identified during support of a person are responded to promptly and escalated in line with the Risk Management Framework
  • Act as a strong role model for other staff, promoting best practice in delivering support
  • Have lead responsibility for co-ordinating reviews with people we support, their families / carers and significant others
  • Be involved in the induction, coaching and mentoring of staff in relation to active support, empowering people we support to develop independence, learn new skills, and have new experiences (including those that involve taking positive risks)
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to staff in relation to managing behaviour which challenges, in line with stress and coping plans and Positive Behaviour Support Plans

The Person

  • At least 1 years' paid experience of supporting people with learning disabilities and / or autistic spectrum conditions and / or acquired brain injury within a Health and Social Care setting
  • Experience of assessment, development and implementation of Person Centered Care / Support Plans
  • Using behaviour management strategies
  • Assessing / managing risk
  • Working as part of a team within a Health and Social Care setting
  • Using standard office IT applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Current registration with NISCC or be eligible for registration on
  • Fully flexible to cover a variety of shifts that will include evenings, weekends and unsocial hours
