Shipping Sales & Customer Service

Grafton Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Shipping sales and customer service role on a MAT cover contract for the world leader in global container shipping.

Our client is looking for a candidate who is experienced in Shipping / Freight Forwarding, who has excellent customer service and ability to work independently.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and presenting import- export quotations to existing and potential new clients
  • Processing quotations (filing, updating, monitoring) within our internal systems
  • Calculating freight pricing for our range of services for global trades to our clients
  • Ongoing communication with direct clients, freight forwarders and suppliers
  • Working alongside sales colleagues assisting within our sales department team
  • Ensuring high standards of customer service are provided to the business
  • Working in a team environment to support and achieve company objectives
  • Provide a high level of administrative and Data Entry

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum 5 GCSE & 3+ years' experience in similar role Experience within shipping industry required preferably within container deep-sea
  • Experience of freight pricing terms ( incoterms )
  • Understanding freight calculating, currencies, ocean freight pricing and various rate tables
  • Good general knowledge global shipping trade routes - destinations
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent I.T. skills Office365, Outlook, Skype, Excel, Word etc
  • Excellent organisational, analytical, prioritisation and problem solving skills, e.g. able to establishing a clear structure to your work to maximise the best use of your time
  • Able to develop good relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Understanding of importance of data protection and confidentiality
  • Ability to effectively plan and prioritise workflow within the remit of the role
