Job Title: Technical Manager
Location: Co Louth
Salary: Negotiable
The Technical Manager will work within the Technical Team and will be responsible for leading the Technical aspects of projects and design. The Technical Manager champions continuous product development improvements and, in conjunction with other functions, analyses feedback and identifies and implements appropriate problem-solving techniques to improve quality of manufactured product and overall effectiveness and efficiency of processes.
Roles and Responsibilities
- To help provide technical direction in product design and to facilitate project execution
- To manage all technical aspects of projects as required
- To view and approve both general and schematic drawings including assisting with the design / development and submittals of technical aspects of specifications
- Recognize the system deficiencies and risks and implement effective technical solutions
- Carry out strategic development of the technology and design of the companys products
- Assist design departments with product compliance to the relevant standards
- To build and maintain effective working relationships with the client, colleagues and any other associated third party
- To effectively apply our methodology and enforce project standards
- To minimize our exposure and risk on projects
- To ensure Technical documents and Standards are complete, current, and stored appropriately
- Work directly with the Quality Team to investigate Quality problems associated with any products and assist in implementing effective corrective and preventive measures
- Responsible for fault finding, trouble shooting, technical queries and technical reports, leading the issues with the client directly and visiting sites when required
- Drive/support & implement continuous improvement projects with the operations team using Process Excellence lean/six sigma tools.
- Responsible for direct Sales Support when required
- Responsible for all other technical duties assigned to you
- Ensures key quality metrics (CAPA management, First Pass Quality, Complaints, etc) are attained.
- Ensures the pertinent corporate quality and regulatory standards are attained
- Maintains strong communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Participates in and supports the Internal and External Audit Programme
- Participate in teams to help make necessary improvements and changes to all process related issues in the production department
- Identify and Implement continuous improvements in conjunction with the operations team
- Liaise with Vendors and Customers on quality related issues, internal and external
- Additional duties as required
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Degree and A post-graduate qualification in Electrical Engineering is preferable although not mandatory
- At least three to five years Quality Engineering experience or related role within the manufacturing industry
- Strong team member with the ability to identify and drive implementation of innovative quality improvements
- Demonstrate and actively promote high levels of professional quality engineering
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills. Must have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the company
- Ability to write clear, concise technical protocols and reports
- Good administrative/organisational ability with high level of attention to detail
- Ability to liaise with suppliers, customers and regulatory contacts in an informed professional manner
- Thorough understanding of ISO Standards
- Engineering background who thrives on a demanding and challenging environment
